Fantastic Weekend!!

Wow, it has been truly a fantastic weekend from april 19-20!

First up, KTV session on saturday from 11 am till around 4 plus pm with Yishan, Toonxiong, Jane, Alex (her new bf), Millie, Melissa, QIanyun, Maurice and his poly project group mates. Split into 2 rooms cos wayyyy too many pple turned up! Didn't expect that many pple actually! hahaha! So glad for the KTV session cos although i had a slight throat infection (which should be totally healed by yesterday liao) i did manage to sing most of the new songs that i wanted to try as well as improve on my usual Jay chou songs! haha! not to blow my own trumpet, but i really do think i've improved a little in the singing department! haha!

and of cos the rest of the pple are not bad too! maurice has the JJ kind of voice, toonxiong has the ah Du kind of voice, Jane has the S.H.E. kind of cute voice, yishan got the really low voice for a girl, Melissa didn't really sing dunno why also leh, and Millie though she had a sore throat, could sing really well! she improved a lot i was quite impressed. i got a video of her singing Yue Ya Wan by FIR, she totally nailed most of the song, with proper training she can really be a good singer! hahaha.. as for jane's boyfriend alex or shall i call him mr Rebound, he can't really sing well n always zaosia at the high notes! hahaha.. sorry, i know i'm mean to comment on that, but seriously, once or twice is ok, but like almost every song he sings? just change the key of the song to suit your range lah.. duh. can't believe he's also 26 n stays at castle green, he's like typical ah beng, come to ktv in shorts n slippers, never shave, don't talk to other pple, act dao. a bit cannot stand him, but oh well, its jane's choice. still.. getting attached so soon after a breakup is asking for an emotional rollercoaster ride. but its none of my business, yishan should talk some sense into her cos i doubt she'll appreciate me bugging into her personal affairs anyway, the last time i tried to talk to someone about something similar she accused me of being Kpoh, so i can't be bothered now... but getting attached mere days after breaking up with a boyfriend of a few years, does that even make any sense or sound the least bit logical? trying to replace a lost love isn't going to help the healing process, in most cases rebound pple only make it harder to deal with the loss. but anyway forget it weiwen, its not your problem, don't irked yourself over it.

but still, it was quite a fun ktv session though it got a bit draggy near the end, cos i think most of us were a bit hungry n there wasn't any food or tidbits, not even peanuts provided. milllie must learn to read chinese though! hahaha.. er even for myself, always got a few words dunno how to read! the place not bad lah, but a bit expensive, $20 for about 5 hours of ktv. still ok cos no GST n service charge, its a flat charge of $20 per person.

Then went to meet joan for dinner, we had ajisan ramen. ate the chili octopus until i perspired like crazy! actually the chili was sweet as well as spicy, i really liked it, but too bad i think my body cannot take it. haha.. she went back to study and i went to meet yongqiang and liping for the..

David Tao Concert 2008! Absolutely worth every cent, a total of 3.5 hours of entertainment, songs, dance, lasers, and of cos the excellent showmanship and vocal range and power of Tao Ze. His whole band was pretty good, his lead gutarist from australia can sing, his male BV could play guitar, his female BV could play the flute, the violin, and trombone! awesome music team.

I totally loved his rendition of Yue Liang Dai Biao Sue De Xin, super jazzed up soul R&B groovy version, on par with his acclaimed Somewhere over the rainbow / Sha Tan performance! That song alone was worth the money for the concert man! i think one of the best live performances of his career! He likes to keep it simple, one keyboardist and one guitarist for most of his slow numbers, but still those were the ones that the crowd enjoyed most. I mean some of his fast songs were excellent too, esp the one Black Tangerine album Wo Zhi Xiang Ku, that was the best rock song of the night, the lasers and lighting effects were awesome, and Tao Ze though known for his R&B songs, really brought the house down with that rocking track!

One minor complaint though..the dancers really sucked. hahah. the 6-8 female dancers that he brought weren't very good, 1 or 2 of them were consistently making mistakes n was slower than the others, they couldn't stir up the crowd, dunno how to engage the audience. i think he should just save the money and forget bout the dancing. leave the dance floor to posers like Rain, David's forte is in singing soulful ballads, stick to your specialty and drop the techno songs man. the "dance item" which was almost 10-15 minutes was really not very good, the crowd wasn't amused n only the center floor pple got up to dance. the pple sitting at the side slopes were still rooted to their chairs.

but one thing i was quite impressed was his frequent praises to God for a lot of things, for healing his tonsilitis, for his good working relationship with his Christian musicians, and lots of other things. he's really a good christian guy who's shining for God in the marketplace long before FIR or liu gen hong or jay chou accepted Christ! Tao Ze rocks man!

sunday service was alright, attendence pretty bad, but the fellowship was really fun! i mean every week the cg just gets closer n i can feel the unity finally growing, its absolutely great. joan's first service with my cg n alredy she's talking like she knows them so well n fits right in with chenguo, soohuei n the rest. its all good man! thank God things got much better in the cell group! oh yeah n ziqian n alicia getting together soon, so may their relationship be blessed! hahaha.. seriously thru out the whole makan session, everyone was like non-stop crapping n joking n laughing! too bad amanda n peijing weren't at our table n they were joining the kids instead. joan was complaining that some of the kids aren't friendly. or maybe they're just shy or too initimidated by us! hahaha.. i think natalie is quite cute, the half thai girl, at least she's chatty n can joke, some of the younger guys there are really nerdy n boring. LOL! come on man, isn't the youth supposed to be energetic n "happening"? we were totally more noisy n rowdy with soo huei alex n chen guo around man! haha.. even joan joined in the crapping, with ivan adding some jokes n even alicia n ziqian cracking their deadpan jokes, it was awesome. haha. suaning chen guo for his chicken rice, then talking about stuff taht happen in school, then talk about food and hawkers, so funny..

then went for MTT at joo chiat whereby we practiced some new stuff, pretty easy actually, aside from the latin beat which i still can't really get the correct timing! haha.. nevermind i'll get it sooner or later! was teaching liting the new flightphesy solo, n played the solo during the performance with neo! was quite fun, especially the girly wayang drumcall thingy, was so sissy that us guys refused to do it their way n did it in a much more guy way! haha..

then the weekend ended with a primary school gathering which had an amazing attendence, out of the 40+ classmates, about 18 came for the dinner last night at the hong kong cafe at kovan. i have to say, having not seen some of them for like, what, over 5-6 years? they've changed n yet still remained the same! hahaha.. the naughtiest guy in our class became a teacher, my best friend kelly actually got MARRIED n didn't even invite me for his ROM but he assured us we're definitely invited to his wedding dinner at end of the year, cos he wanna collect ang bao. haha! yockwei look like a taokay lah, jus lacking a gold chain round his neck! it was so fun n exciting catching up with old friends, talking n laughing about old times, the punishments we went through, the teachers we disliked n liked, the class outcastes who were totally weird, our old class outings, what everyone's working as now, we have a variety of occupations, from engineers to doctors to lawyers to investors to teachers to prison wardens to corporate executives to semi-conductor manufacturers to event organisers, i mean the works! we could've moved to an island n set up a new country or something! its just so cool having successful frenz, knowing these guys are the ones i can actually trust (you can't trust "friends" you make thru clients n work) n turn to for help if i ever should need it.

it was pure pandemonium n noise in the hk cafe, we formed the largest group there with 8-9 tables joined together, n we walked around to chat with different classmates n take pictures, all up on shujun's facebook account. those who used to be skinny n nerdy now look quite good, the short guys grew up, the fat girls grew thin, the conservative girls turned outspoken, yeah sure there were changes, but overall they remained quite the same. the class year book somehow turned up n we were laughing at our old pictures, weiqiang dancing like micheal jackson, me kelly n him doing the bon jovi impersonation, chongyi doing bryan adams, we were THE most happening class in primary school man! and IMHO, the best class ever, which produced the most successful businessmen, professionals, managers, etc! oh, david goh is the manager of Fullerton, he's in charge of organising our next gathering in june, when his twin bro David Goh jia gong comes back from michigan, mukesh n stef n weixiong come back from aussie. its gonna be one heck of a gathering, we hope to have probably 30 pple at the next one! $80 budget a bit steep, but come on, we have doctors n investors n car sales managers man, we can afford it! incredible class reunion, i was actually afraid some wouldn't recognise me, but of cos they did. to them i was the goody two shoes mr nice guy teacher's pet n they all expected me to be a lawyer somehow or other. lol! but i suppose thats good lah. i was also glad to meet up with huiling, the girl that brought me to city harvest in 1999! without her, i wouldn't be who i am today, i wouldn't know Jesus, i wouldn't do so many things for God in choir n strikeforce n cell group, i wouldn't get to know Joan, n God knows what stupid things i would've done! so thank God for friends like her who bothered to reach out to me.

what a great weekend! God is good man! hope the weekdays are gonna be as good as the weekends man.. damn sian today, totally don't feel like coming work cos didn't sleep well last night.. thinking of my work load n worse, not knowing HOW to do my work kinda sucks big time, but oh well, time for lunch.
